Channi's Indian Restaurant

If you’re looking for a spot in Birmingham that brings authentic Indian flavours to life, Channi's Indian Restaurant on 795 Stratford Rd, Springfield is one of those hidden gems locals whisper about but foodies shout from the rooftops. Whether you’re strolling by or actively searching for the best Indian food in Birmingham, this place will grab your attention - and your taste buds.

Channi’s doesn’t try too hard with gimmicks. It leans into what it does best: rich, flavourful dishes, warm hospitality, and a relaxed vibe that welcomes everyone - from solo diners to groups out for dinner. The atmosphere is laid-back but professional, with wheelchair-accessible seating that ensures inclusivity. There’s no pretentiousness here. Just good food, good service, and a lot of regulars who keep coming back.

Let’s be honest - if a place can make you crave Lamb Chops days after you’ve had them, it’s doing something right. At Channi’s, the lamb chops are marinated and grilled to perfection - juicy, spiced just right, and served sizzling. Then there’s the Chicken Pakora - crisp on the outside, tender on the inside, and served with sauces that pack a tangy punch. The Chicken Puree is another must-try: creamy, rich, and subtly spiced, paired perfectly with soft Indian bread.

Vegetarians aren’t left out. The Chilli Paneer hits all the right notes - sweet, spicy, and sticky with just the right texture. Vegan? No problem. Channi’s menu is loaded with vegan-friendly dishes, and they don’t just feel like afterthoughts.

One standout that often goes under the radar is the Soy Methi Chicken - a dish that balances bitterness, sweetness, and spice in one bite. Not many places attempt this combo, and even fewer pull it off this well.

You’ve also got the classics like Chicken Curry and Tava Pork, the kind of meals that make you feel like you’re eating at your grandma’s house - if she happened to be a master of Indian cuisine.

Don’t forget the sides. Their Raita is creamy with just enough kick to balance out the heat of the mains. It’s little touches like this that make you appreciate the attention to detail.

Unlike many local joints, Channi’s Indian Restaurant serves a range of beverages. Whether it’s a crisp beer, a glass of wine, or even spirits, there’s something to pair with your meal, no matter the occasion. And if you’re someone who enjoys a good curry late into the night, you’ll be pleased to know they serve late-night food, making them a popular dinner destination, especially after 8 PM.

And yes, they serve coffee - so whether you're rounding off your meal or just dropping in for a quick bite and a cup, you're covered.

One thing that sets Channi’s apart from other Indian restaurants in Birmingham is how welcoming the staff are. You don’t just feel like a customer - you feel like a guest. It’s that blend of casual charm and professionalism that keeps people coming back. They’re happy to recommend dishes, tweak spice levels to your liking, and are never pushy.

You’ve also got flexible service options here. Dine-in, grab a takeaway, or just pop in for something small. It’s the kind of place that works whether you’re flying solo, on a date, or ordering for a family dinner.

If you’re still Googling terms like best Indian curry Birmingham, Indian takeaway near me, or where to eat lamb chops in Birmingham, then Channi’s should be on your radar. The place doesn’t shout - it speaks through bold flavours, consistent quality, and a vibe that feels like home (but with better food).

For anyone exploring Springfield or anywhere near B11, Channi’s Indian Restaurant isn’t just a place to eat - it’s where you go to feel full in the best possible way.

I don't visit this restaurant enough even though I only live round the corner. The food was absolutely great as it always is. Not been in here for a well & as I walked in was greeted with a big smile & hand shake from the owner Channi. Need to start visiting on a regular basis.

Humble surroundings mask a true gift to the palate. Service is slow. But Channi bhai cooks for you as if you are guests that have turned up after years and ensures time stands still for him to show his mastery and then sits down to have a chat as if he is done for the night just to be with you. Unpretentious, gracious and a charming raconteur
